Updates, repairs and improvements
WordPress maintenance and support
I help businesses and teams maintain and improve existing WordPress websites, from broken forms and plugin updates to layout issues and content editing.
Existing-site work is scoped separately. Send the site and the issue, and we’ll establish the work and cost before it starts.
Common requests
Support for existing WordPress websites
I can help with a specific issue or a planned set of improvements. I’ll first look at how the site is built, so the recommendation fits the work it actually needs.
Broken pages and features
Layout issues, forms, navigation and front-end behaviour. We’ll identify the fault and agree what needs correcting.
WordPress updates
Reviewing theme and plugin dependencies, planning updates and checking affected functionality. Backup and hosting responsibilities are part of that plan.
Slow pages
Looking at images, front-end code, plugins, caching and hosting to find where improvements are worthwhile.
Content and editing
Fixing awkward fields, improving WordPress blocks and making repeatable content easier for your team to publish.
Usability and accessibility
Practical fixes to headings, contrast, forms, focus states and keyboard behaviour. A formal accessibility audit is a separate scope.
Changes before a launch
Help with content, responsive layouts, redirects, metadata and other agreed checks when a site is nearly ready.
How I approach support
Review, estimate and repair
Show me the problem
Send the URL, what you expected to happen and what’s happening instead. A screenshot and notes about recent changes are useful.
Review what’s involved
I’ll establish what needs investigating, what access is required and whether other providers need to be involved. If investigation itself needs paid time, we’ll agree on that first.
Agree on the work
You’ll know which issues we’re addressing, the cost, the testing approach and what remains outside the scope before the fixes begin.
Check the result
I’ll check the affected parts of the site and explain what changed, any limitations and what deserves attention next.
Assessing your existing site
Repair, improve or rebuild?
Keep what’s working
A specific fault, outdated section or difficult editing task can often be addressed without replacing the site. We can focus the budget on the parts that need attention.
When to consider a rebuild
If each change uncovers another problem, I’ll explain the options and tradeoffs. A rebuild may be worth considering when the underlying setup is stopping the site from doing its job.

Support scope and availability
Updates, hosting, backups, monitoring and new features are different responsibilities. We’ll agree which ones I’m handling and who looks after the rest.
If you need ongoing help, we’ll discuss the work involved and my availability. For an urgent issue, include the deadline and the effect on your business.
Urgent work depends on availability. I’ll confirm whether I can take it on before we agree on a start date.
Frequently asked questions
Can you work on a site you didn’t build?
Yes. I’ll need to review the site and its setup before recommending work. Send me the URL and the issues you’re seeing, along with anything you know about the theme, plugins and hosting.
Can I bring you one small problem?
Yes. Tell me what needs fixing and I’ll let you know whether I can help. The size of the visible issue doesn’t always tell us how much work is behind it, so I’ll explain any investigation needed before estimating a fix.
How much does WordPress support cost?
Support is quoted for the work involved. There’s no requirement to buy a new website to get help with an existing one. We’ll agree on the investigation, fixes and cost before work starts.
What access will you need?
That depends on the issue. I may need WordPress, hosting or code access, but the initial message only needs the website and a description of the problem. Don’t send passwords through the enquiry form; we’ll arrange access separately.
Will you need to take the site offline?
We’ll discuss the testing and deployment approach before making changes. Where a separate testing environment is available, it can help us check updates before they reach visitors. Any expected interruption should be part of the plan.

Send the link, describe the issue and let me know if there’s a deadline. I’ll review what you’ve sent and we can work out what to do next.
